Project Brief: To Replace the existing cantilever walkway ensuring that the footway access along the side of the Saracens head public house continues to be serviceable.

  • Install a cantilever scaffold to provide edge protection and a safe work area.
  • Remove existing walkway constructed of steel frame and large stone copings with tarmac surface course.
  • Excavation phase- working closely with an archaeologist under a watching brief due to proximity to the old Wye bridge.
  • Install new steel frame.
  • Install GRP permanent formwork between steelwork to carry new concrete slab.
  • Install concrete slab.
  • Reinstate historic railings and coping stones.
  • Reinstate tarmac surface course.
