Hampton Court Bridge

Project Brief: To Replace the parapet on the downstream side of the bridge. The parapet had become unserviceable due to erosion. These works were essential, in order to maintain the road edge protection to the required standards. Repointing other sections of the bridge were required where mortar loss was present.

  • Site setup with red & white road barriers and traffic management- road under traffic signals with a single lane closure.
  • A Cantilever scaffold was used to form a safe edge protection and gain access to the works.
  • Sample stone panels were made for material approval by the conservation officer.
  • Walls were taken down- all coping stones were numbered for re-use.
  • Walls reconstructed using agreed materials including lime mortar.
  • Works completed on time and within budget.
