Cut & Fill / Site Levelling

Balanced cut-and-fill to optimise material use, establish design levels and create stable platforms for buildings, yards, roads and drainage.

Formation & Oversite Construction

Build-up of sub-base, capping and formation layers to engineer’s spec—compacted, tested and ready for slabs, asphalt or paving.

Pond Excavation & Construction

Purpose-built ponds for amenity, wildlife or attenuation profiled batters, clay lining or membranes, inlet/outlet structures and safe access.

Landscaping & Reinstatement

Topsoiling, grading, seeding/turfing, verge reinstatement, fencing and planting so sites are left neat, stable and compliant.

  • 1. Survey & planning - Levels, soil classification, access, utilities and haul routes.
  • 2. Method & programme - Mass-haul plan, cut/fill targets, compaction standards and testing regime.
  • 3. Excavate & place - Controlled digging, moisture conditioning and layer-by-layer compaction.
  • 4. Form & proof-roll - Achieve design levels; plate-load/Clegg testing as required.
  • 5. Drain & protect - Temporary drainage, silt control and erosion protection during works.
  • 6. Reinstatement & handover - Topsoil, seeding/planting, fencing and as-built levels/QA.

  • Plant & methods: 360° excavators, dozers, rollers, dumpers; GPS/laser control where beneficial.
  • Materials: Selected fill, engineered capping, Type 1 sub-base, geotextiles/geogrids.
  • Testing: In-situ density/Clegg/plate-load tests, formation certificates.
  • Environmental: Silt fencing, settlement ponds, dust suppression, soil management plans.
  • Finishing touches: Timber post-and-rail, stock fencing, hedging/trees, verge build-ups.
